ROCKVILLE, MD — Daniel Anderton, RLA, a Senior Associate at Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has received the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Robert M. O’Donnell award for outstanding contributions to the success of ULI’s Advisory Services program.

Anderton has more than 30 years of experience as a Landscape Architect and Planner. He has directed planning and conceptual design activities for a variety of communities and transit-oriented developments. Anderton has served on 10 ULI Advisory Services panels since 2015, including Duluth, Minnesota; Reno, Nevada; Buffalo, New York; Beijing, China; Port Aransus, Texas; and Erie, Pennsylvania.

“Dan is the consummate professional with the goal of creating communities that are comfortable, sustainable and inclusive to a wide demographic of residents and business owners while also being marketable for either public or private developers. He is one of the most important and influential components of the current Advisory Services Panel Program,” said Urban Land Institute Senior Vice President Tom Eitler.

The ULI’s Advisory Services panels provide expert, independent, timely, candid and unbiased input from national real estate, land use, design and planning experts. These experts work with local leaders to offer solutions to complex problems facing a community, such as food access, shortage of housing choices or devastation from a disaster.

“I’m honored to receive this prestigious award from the ULI,” Anderton said. “Having the opportunity to help make a difference in so many communities that are facing complex challenges has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.”

Anderton earned his bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Utah State University (1983) and his master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Illinois (1985). He is a Registered Landscape Architect in Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and Pennsylvania and a Licensed Landscape Architect in New Jersey.
