HOUSTON, TX — Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) has been chosen to assist the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Houston District in managing the Seawolf Parkway Project.
LAN’s involvement includes providing project management support, with Craig Hester, PE, Senior Technical Leader, serving as Project Manager.
As part of the project, LAN will assist TxDOT with project scheduling, identifying risks, and implementing strategic solutions, assessing critical task paths and managing project coordination and reporting.
Seawolf Parkway is the only land connection to Pelican Island from Galveston Island, Texas. It serves key facilities including the Texas A&M Galveston campus, industrial and commercial operations, and Seawolf Park, a popular recreational site. The project, which has garnered attention from state and local officials, as well as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Coast Guard, involves replacing the aging lift bridge with a modern fixed bridge designed to improve navigational clearance and reduce maintenance challenges.
“We are committed to delivering a bridge that improves safety, supports economic activity, and addresses the long-term transportation needs of Pelican Island,” Hester said. “By replacing the aging lift bridge with a fixed bridge, we’re reducing ongoing maintenance costs and ensuring reliable access for the industries, institutions, and residents that rely on this crucial corridor.”
